SCONES IN THE PARK 2008  - Sunday 22nd June

a few years ago we used to put on a little annual mini-festival called Scones In The Park as part of the moondog loves you club... there hasn't been one since 2005 but this June it returns!!! Yes indeedy we are planning one for the 22nd of June... a Sunday afternoon in Victoria Park... with live acoustic music from Gabby Young and Other Animals, You&Me, Naomi Hates Humans, Jess Bryant, Off Ground Touch and lots lots more... starting from midday in Victoria Park...

there's a small enclave near Bonner Gate (the nearest gate to Bethnal Green, just over the canal from Approach Road, there's a map here: http://www.streetmap.co.uk/newmap.srf?x=535470&y=183500&z=0&sv=535470,183500&st=4&mapp=newmap.srf&searchp=newsearch.srf

We've changed location as the Bandstand area gets quite busy (and Radiohead are building an arena nearby which might be a bit distracting) and of course the whole event is weather dependent.... if it's fine, we'll be there until it gets dark and we retreat indoors.

it will be an all-day musical picnic with arts and crafts, all materials will be supplied... kids welcome... it will be a free event but we will ask for donations to help towards expenses... and will culminate in the construction of a giant scone... bring your own food and drink... picnic blankets and your friends too...

pray for good weather!

WELL DONE NIZLOPI!!!

well well well... it looks like moondog's favourite music act has managed to get to Number One in the charts with their amazing JCB Song but had a hard time beating the X-Factor winner to hold on to it for Christmas Day...

Nizlopi played an amazing headline set at Shepherd's Bush Empire in January...

I've created a special mini-site for them here: www.pro-nizlopi.com

It's about time this duo were recognised as the best band in Britain and it looks like it is finally happening... thanks in part to the brilliant video by monkeehub that is circulating the inboxes of the world... yeay! well done boys!!!

click here to watch the video... forward it on to your friends if you want. it's sweet, funny and musically brilliant...

"The animation is by one of the guys whoês done animation for Radiohead. I really really really like it. I like the visual style, I love the way that they sound, and I love the way that [it references that] if youêre a kid, you worship your dad. Even if heês just a driver of a truck, you invent myth and lore around how cool he is."

PREVIOUS MOONDOG NIGHTS:
THE X-MAS FACTOR
a night of future stars
at The Spread Eagle, Kingsland Road
on the 13th of December

With moondog's friends doing so well at the moment (Nizlopi, Misty's, Milk Kan and the Mink Troubadour Kamikaze Squadron have all been played on Radio One in recent weeks) on the 13th of December we tried find the stars of the future with a special X-Factor type night at The Spread Eagle once again on Kingsland Road in Shoreditch. A few moondog regulars performed covers and christmas songs for your entertainment in front of a live audience... then we voted on the best one. You decided that Monica Harkin should win with ther beautiful cover of Feeling' Good... Artists who performed were Polly Maclean and Joe Murphy with an admirable version of Fairytale of New York, Paul Hawkins (whose incredible Santa Baby deserves an honorable mention), JJ Crash, Iain Dootson, Stan Spencer and Kiss Chase... and I was tempted to perform myself ... yes really... Maxwell's Silver Hammer in the style of Bjork and Driftwood in the style of Johnny Cash... It really was such a laugh... We also had amazing live performances from moondog favourites Emaline Delapaix and Toph... as well as lots of scones, drawing stuff and lots of hot young lovely people... so if you came along I hope you enjoyed it and will come to the next one.

haloween

our VICTORIAN HALLOWEEN party was on the 25th of october at the splendiferous venue of dirty delight The Spread Eagle in Hoxton, a haunted olde creaking inn (formally a house of ill-repute) in the heart of London's East End... where Jack the Ripper once stalked the fog-bound streets, where around every corner lurks a shadow, a secret, a nightmare...the moondog loves you club returned for a triumphant Victorian Halloween fancy dress party at which we had great live music from some insane and ghoulish creatures of the night... as usual we were making stuff, drawing and creating a hell of a mess and of course there were scones... thanks to everyone who came and made it such a wonderful night....

Especially wonderful was the headline act for our little gathering... The Irrepressibles... hard to describe but amazingly unforgettable... they gave us a night to remember...

There's some wicked photos from the party here by Alex...
