THE HUNGAMUNGA FESTIVAL 2008 - 27th-28th September We're aiming high for this one... bigger than ever before.. our first festival... over two days and nights at two very different venues in Bethnal Green... with The Wave Pictures and Nizlopi headlining as well as some very special guests... the amazing line-up so far:Saturday from 7pm-midnight: Natural Selection at The Gallery Cafe, 21 Old Ford Road; acoustic and unplugged performances from the finest songwriters we can muster with some very natural crafts, as well as knitting, sewing, drawing and collage. our best line-up ever... animal arts and creature crafts with those
musical beasts, with three great musical acts: people came as an animal or
made a costume on the night... prizes were awarded for the best
costume and the best animal creation... HUNGAMUNGA at The Secret Garden Party from
24th-27th July, we'll be at The Secret Garden Party for all four days
in our very special Playtent, a retreat for all those who want to come

Bethnal Green Working Men's Club our laboratory for
the evening! with live music from the
extraordinary Man and The Vertebrates and Jim'll's Brain... DJs and
dancing and loads of arts and crafts materials... woohoo! SCONES IN THE PARK 2008 - Sunday 22nd June a few years ago we used to put on a little annual mini-festival called Scones In The Park as part of the moondog loves you club... there hasn't been one since 2005 but this June it returns!!! Yes indeedy we are planning one for the 22nd of June... a Sunday afternoon in Victoria Park... with live acoustic music from Gabby Young and Other Animals, You&Me, Naomi Hates Humans, Jess Bryant, Off Ground Touch and lots lots more... starting from midday in Victoria Park...there's a small enclave near Bonner Gate (the nearest gate to Bethnal Green, just over the canal from Approach Road, there's a map here: http://www.streetmap.co.uk/newmap.srf?x=535470&y=183500&z=0&sv=535470,183500&st=4&mapp=newmap.srf&searchp=newsearch.srf We've changed location as the Bandstand area gets quite busy (and Radiohead are building an arena nearby which might be a bit distracting) and of course the whole event is weather dependent.... if it's fine, we'll be there until it gets dark and we retreat indoors. it will be an all-day musical picnic with arts and crafts, all materials will be supplied... kids welcome... it will be a free event but we will ask for donations to help towards expenses... and will culminate in the construction of a giant scone... bring your own food and drink... picnic blankets and your friends too... pray for good weather! http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=15056458462&ref=ts HUNGAMUNGA at The Art Car Boot Fair on Saturday June 8th from 12 midday... in Brick Lane for arty fun and music with Thinguma*jigsaw and lots of fun courtesy of the BGWMC... loads of new artists selling work and live performance art too...
Sunday May 11th ![]() Sunday 27th April HungaMunga's Natural Selection at The Bedroom Bar, Rivington St. from 4pm step into our garden of dreams.... our wonderful spin-off night of live and acoustic musical appreciation, drawing and natural crafts has a new home... from April 27th we'll be at the gorgeous Bedroom Bar above The Comedy Cafe in Rivington Street from 4pm we'll have a little bazaar where you can buy or sell arts and crafts treats such as jewellery, prints, badges, small paintings, artists products, toys etc then from 7pm in the Bedouin chamber that is the sumptuous chillout bar, live music from the finest there is... quirky, folky loveliness from Australian singer Emaline Delapaix and her band performing their only UK date on their European tour, and our old friends Off Ground Touch return to gigland with inspiring and heartbreaking songs about life and love... with poetry, performance and some interactive drawing contests... all that and lots more that we'll reveal nearer the time... We had a swinging' night of Rat Pack musical tributes and Vegas-style glam and glitter at Bethnal Green Working Men's Club on the 12th of April with live music from Thee Intolerable Kidd and Nathan Persad as well as the hot kittens of Les Apaches... ![]() After that... we had another FREE sunday HungaMunga makey day in May at 93 FEET EAST on Brick Lane with our DJs spinning some fun, funky and eclectic tunes until 10.30 Rock N Roll Cinema showed short films from 4pm in the main room and then from 7pm live music. We're there in the pink bar at the back getting messy each month... ![]() Our first party at Favela Chic was in March... taking all your recyclable junk and scraps and making them into great works of art, sculptures, installations and collages... The prize for the best costume went to Little dead Riding Hood... we had the insane genius of THE SWAYS... the eccentric offspring of folk country blues and Spike Milligan, a band who in their own words are the musical equivalent of Marmite... in a word: psychotic and bouncing indie fun pop from THE MICHELLES... they certainly got us all dancing and making merry... so much fun... if they're not careful they might end up famous... i warn you, they'll be huge in 2007!!! with DJs Kisschase and Freddy playing fun stuff 'til 2am check our myspace page for more information ![]() Our previous HUNGAMUNGA was on September 21st at Bethnal Green Working Men's Club... with psychedelic spaced-out pop from THEY CAME FROM THE STARS, I SAW THEM and the acoustically gorgeous PAUL MOSLEY as well as some tunes from our fabulous DJ Freddy... that's as well as making everything imaginable from costumes, puppets, papier mache, dressing up costumes, etc... we'll be painting, sticking, knitting, sewing, face-painting, papier-mache-ing (?)... Nizlopi played an amazing headline set at Shepherd's Bush Empire in January... Neil Young, Vice President, Electronic Arts, Los Angeles PREVIOUS MOONDOG NIGHTS: THE X-MAS FACTOR a night of future stars at The Spread Eagle, Kingsland Road on the 13th of December ![]() With moondog's friends doing so well at the moment (Nizlopi, Misty's, Milk Kan and the Mink Troubadour Kamikaze Squadron have all been played on Radio One in recent weeks) on the 13th of December we tried find the stars of the future with a special X-Factor type night at The Spread Eagle once again on Kingsland Road in Shoreditch. A few moondog regulars performed covers and christmas songs for your entertainment in front of a live audience... then we voted on the best one. You decided that Monica Harkin should win with ther beautiful cover of Feeling' Good... Artists who performed were Polly Maclean and Joe Murphy with an admirable version of Fairytale of New York, Paul Hawkins (whose incredible Santa Baby deserves an honorable mention), JJ Crash, Iain Dootson, Stan Spencer and Kiss Chase... and I was tempted to perform myself ... yes really... Maxwell's Silver Hammer in the style of Bjork and Driftwood in the style of Johnny Cash... It really was such a laugh... We also had amazing live performances from moondog favourites Emaline Delapaix and Toph... as well as lots of scones, drawing stuff and lots of hot young lovely people... so if you came along I hope you enjoyed it and will come to the next one. ![]() KINKI, our favourite club night for debauched and glittery starlets will be returned for its massive second birthday bash on Saturday the 12th of November at the beautiful Boudoir, 47 Chiswell Street, EC1. The Billion Dollar Babes in Toyland Party with help from Coco De Mer, Poste Mistress, Beyond Retro, Toni&Guy, and a Stila twisted lingerie show. With performance artists and alternative art exhibitions, bunny girls, circus boyz, cigarette dollz, glam electro, glitter rock and glorious trash pop brought to us by Riot Fever's Miss Pixi, Vic Voltaire and very special surprise guests. This beautiful desecration will be televised. There'll be more Kinki parties in 2006. Be there next time or else!!!. check the site here for more details: KINKI... ![]() ![]() our VICTORIAN HALLOWEEN party was on the 25th of october at the splendiferous venue of dirty delight The Spread Eagle in Hoxton, a haunted olde creaking inn (formally a house of ill-repute) in the heart of London's East End... where Jack the Ripper once stalked the fog-bound streets, where around every corner lurks a shadow, a secret, a nightmare...the moondog loves you club returned for a triumphant Victorian Halloween fancy dress party at which we had great live music from some insane and ghoulish creatures of the night... as usual we were making stuff, drawing and creating a hell of a mess and of course there were scones... thanks to everyone who came and made it such a wonderful night.... ![]() Especially wonderful was the headline act for our little gathering...
